Spina Bifida Of Greater Saint Louis

Each month we will feature an organization or person who has done a special thing for their community.

This month we feature Cornerstone Farms.

Cornerstone Farms has a program called Bridge the Divide. Bridge the Divide is a non-profit organization that exists to provide meaningful experiences for special kids. Most of these children were born with Down Syndrome, Autism or Cerebral Palsy. Whatever challenge they are facing, we believe that the opportunity to care for and ride horses is life-changing.

This non-profit program now runs on THERAPEUTIC THURSDAYS year-round and the lessons are FREE to all participants. We are currently nearly ONE HUNDRED free riding lessons a month and we hope to grow the program even more in 2009.

We also employ a number of adults with developmental disabilities through the Trinity Foundation. They work as part-time stable hands, groom horses, clean tack, take care of the barn and the coffeehouse and participate in the regular ground training of our school horses using Parelli methodology.

Cornerstone Farms is an excellent organization with a loving heart towards children. Our very own Emma Baer and Ally Carlisle ride each Thursday.
